Two-dimensional bar code as an identification mark
in access control systems |

The possibility of using two-dimensional bar codes as an identification
mark for the access control systems is described. It is
proposed to use as the main characteristics of two-dimensional
bar codes applicability such their properties, as compact size,
the size of alphabet, which is used for encoding of different data
types(e.g., numeric and alphanumeric information); the stability
of bar code dimensional detection; the ability to restore the
information in partially damaged bar code; the simplicity of bar
code creation; the simplicity of recognition and readout speed;
the ease of application of bar code on identifier. The comparison
criteria are given and the most suitable for this criteria bar code
among the other popular two-dimensional bar codes such as QRcode,
Data Matrix, Microsoft Tag, Aztec Code is chosen. The analysis
of two-dimensional bar codes showed, that the above-mentioned
bar codes are almost comparable according to their basic
characteristics, but the QR-code has at least two advantages: they
are high information capacity and detection speed, which allow
to use it in this subject field.
