News Academy of Engineering Sciences A.M. Prokhorov Annotation << Back RETROSPECTIVE SHOW OF RESEARCHES ON METHODS FOR DETERMINATION OF SODIUM CONCENTRATION IN HUMAN BLOOD V.A. BUZANOVSKII Researches of human blood in clinical diagnostic laboratories are carried out for numerous parameters. One of such parameters is sodium concentration. In the review chronological development (since the middle of 1950th years) of techniques for determination of sodium concentration in plasma, serum and whole blood based on various analytical methods (fl ame photometry, potentiometry, ion chromatography, spectrophotometry, gravimetry and titrimetry) is submitted. Brief data on the listed techniques and results of comparative tests are resulted. It is marked, that potentiometric techniques for determination of sodium concentration in plasma, serum and whole blood have received a wide spread as in small and middle laboratories so in large clinical diagnostic centers. Flame photometric techniques frequently are expert techniques. Ion chromatographic techniques are mainly used in the scientifi c research organizations but gravimetric and titrimetric techniques are not practically applied.
